Lunar Eclipse

Last Thursday there was a total lunar eclipse that was visible in Copan. I tried some shots with my new camera. The first one worked OK as there was still light from the full moon but you can see that the moon is being covered in the second.

Dave,
Came across Honduras yesterday while doing a piece for Readers Digest about why there are no Caribs left in the Caribbean. Seems some of the last, the so-called Black Caribs, were exiled by the British from Dominica to Roatan Island off the Honduran coast following a rebellion in the 1790s. Now they have about half a million descendants scattered along the coast, only they're called Garifunas.
Is any of this true? Have you met any Garifunas? Are they different in any way from other people in the vicinity? You're our man on the spot. Please confirm.
All the best,
Tony

Tony, it is true. The Bay Islands where Roatan is have often been under English control and the English were happy for them to be used as a base for pirates. There are Garifuna villages along the coast and on the Bay Islands English and not Spanish is spoken. Copan is far inland so I only came into contact with Garifuna on my trip to the beach in Tela. Many tourists here do go to the Bay Islands though for the diving.
